The stroller seat is a rigid plastic shell formed and assembled in two parts as a hinged seat and back. The stroller seat base remains fixed at 15 degrees incline to help keep the pelvis to the rear of the seat. The stroller seat depth is 11" (28 cm). The high back with lateral side-wall supports articulates for positioning and trunk control. Specifically, the stroller back reclines from 85 - 120 degrees.
The stroller seating fabric is an attractive cotton and synthetic fabric that is washable. The stroller upholstery has supportive foam cushioning sewn underneath the fabric. By adding pads or soft objects to empty spaces behind the fabric, both the stroller seat and back can be customized with ergonomic contouring. Lap belt with safety buckle is standard.
The stroller frame and wheel axles are constructed of powder coated steel with complementing high impact plastic joinery and fittings. The Pixi has passed crash testing for school bus transportation with an approved five-point tie-down system. It meests the ANSI/RESNA WC/Vol. 1 Section 9 requirements. Rear stroller wheels are fixed in direction and are pneumatic 8" (20 cm) tires. The front are 6" (15 cm) swivel solid flexible rubber tires.
The stroller footrest plate is high impact plastic, is height adjustable, and slots are provided if foot loops are needed.
